The Blue Oval has announced three separate recalls to fix several vehicles, which may be affected by different issues.
The largest campaign covers 37,905 units of the 2015-2016 low-roof Transit, produced between March 12, 2014 and March 18, 2016, at the Kansas City Assembly Plant. Some of these vehicles might have incorrectly positioned side-curtain airbags, which may influence their performance and increase the risk of injury in a crash. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.
A combined issue of the engine block design and the block heater, which can cause the part to overheat when plugged in, has lead to a second recall, announced for 5,536 units of the 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC that were produced between November 25, 2013, and January 25, 2016 at Louisville, and the 2016 Ford Explorer, built between October 20, 2013 and January 28 2016. The manufacturer is aware of two reports of underhood fires, in Canada, but no accidents or injuries have occured.
The last recall campaign covers 4,764 examples of the 2015-2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 pickup trucks built at Escobedo Assembly Plant between January 28, 2015, and April 23, 2015, and in Ohio between January 31, 2015 and November 30, 2015. In some of these vehicles, the parking brake connector clips were improperly manufacturer and could break, resulting in unintended movement and increasing the risk of injury and death. The automaker is not aware of any accidents associated with this status.
