30-year-old Babangida Oni, was on Monday evening hacked to death by suspected cattle rustlers in Ise-Akoko, a community in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Although details of the death were still sketchy, it was gathered that some Fulani herdsmen were responsible.

Oni was macheted to death by the assailants who invaded his residence in the evening. Reports say there was verbal exchange before the attack.

His remains had been deposited in the morgue at the State Specialist Hospital in Ikare-Akoko, where it was learnt that post-mortem would be conducted.

As stated by a source in the state police command, “at about 10am, Mr. Yunusa Oni, who resides at Akunnu-Akoko came to the station and reported that on that fateful day at about 7am, his nephew, one Idris Oni, called to inform him that three men came to their house in Ise-Akoko where they macheted the victim who was his brother to death.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Wole Ogodo who confirmed the tragedy, said no suspect has been arrested but noted that the command is investigating.
