Television station, iRokoPlus has been relaunched on StarTimes Pay TV as iRoko World.
This information was disclosed at a media event during the week in Lagos.
Award winning actress Funke Akindele was also revealed as the channels new ambassador.
As stated by Uloma Onuma, head of legal and distribution, iROKO, stated the new developments were a way for the channel to show its commitment to subscribers and Nigerian movie lovers.
Onuma explained the reasons behind Akindele being chosen as an ambassador.
“Our choice of Funke Akindele was because she has proven to be not just a multi-talented award-winning actress, but an inspirational character that excites many Nigerians with her educative and interesting movies as well as her comic character Jenifa,” she stated.
“Akindele’s rich credentials in Nigerian entertainment industry can add value to the quality service irokoWorld TV offers to Nigerians, and choosing her as a Brand Ambassador was part of rebranding packages to make irokoWorld TV a household name in Nigeria and taking Nollywood to everywhere.”
Akindele will be going on a nationwide tour of iRoko World’s customer service experience centres. The actor expressed her excitement at the partnership.
Films and TV series including “Jenifa’s Diaries”, “White Hunters”, “Pleasure Boosters” and “Child of Mercy” will be airing on iRoko World this month.
