The Nigerian Military has paraded the alleged killer of Major General Mohammed Shuwa (rtd).

The late Shuwa was murdered in his residence in Maiduguri, Borno State by suspected Boko Haram sect on November 2, 2012.

Following his assassination, officials of the Nigerian military intelligence arrested a suspected killer, Mohammed Sani Nafiu, as confirmed by the Army spokesperson, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman.

The suspect was arrested by the military at Hotoro General area of Kano municipal. A GSM and a total sum of three hundred naira was recovered from him.

Nafiu, 35, who was paraded before newsmen in Kano on Tuesday, denied the allegation, saying he was framed by the military.

He stated he knows nothing about the planning and assassination of the civil war hero.

Speaking in Hausa language, he said, “I don’t know anything about General Shuwa’s death.

“I was arrested from my home to the detention centre, and they are trying to frame me. I must make myself clear, I have no hand in General Shuwa’s death,” he insisted.

A senior military officer who did not want his name in print reportedly told journalists shortly after a brief encounter with the suspects to disregard his stand.

As stated by him, the suspect is a pathological liar.

The officer stated immediately after General Shuwa was killed, the suspect (Nafiu) relocated from his country home and what the military know of him was different from the picture he tried to paint before the world.

He added that the suspect’s arrest was a product of sustained intelligence operation.
