Girl Locked Up For 6 Years In A Dungeon Because Her Parents Hated Her Boyfriend

As stated by Emirates 247, 24-year-old Chinese girl, Zhang Qi has been locked up by her family in a dungeon for six years because she refused to let go of a man her parents hated with a passion, claiming she is mentally ill. Qi is 'treated like an animal' because her mum and dad didn't like her boyfriend. Zhang Qi was only 18 years old when she was forced to dump her boyfriend and cut all ties with him. But when her parents realised that she was still seeing him behind their backs and after having attempted to run away from home to be with him, the parents locked her up in the filthy shed which is only fit for a dog in Jingang in China's Hubei province, according to a villager. The villager adds that the parents have a lot of influence in the region and they told everyone that their daughter was mentally ill and was locked up for her own protection. They also made it clear that they would not welcome any intervention in what they considered to be their private matter. The whole story came out after a 50-year-old man who visits his village around the New Year would visit the girl in secret every year, finally decided enough was enough when he found her in a pathetic condition, lying on a pile of straw with some food kept around her. He decided to do something about it. He clicked some images and shared the girl's story as the officials in the area refused to take any action against the parents.
