It’s got more than a fair share of scoops, this second-gen Porsche saloon, only this time, we've the finished article.

Not a leak, a press release or any such thing yet. Just a new Panamera testing at the Nordschleife without any camo save for the film around the taillights that is redundant as it doesn’t really hide their shape.

The Panamera II is, for all intents and purposes, the production version of the 2012 Sport Turismo concept, only with less angular headlamps and a hatchback body instead of a shooting brake (this, mind you, will come at a afterwards date).

Porsche’s stylists deserve credit for turning an ungainly and universally bashed design into a vastly more appealing sports saloon that, at the same time, won’t be mistaken for anything else however, a Panamera.

That’s great news, for those who crossed the original instantly from their list due to its looks (and who can blame them?) missed out on a truly great handling sports saloon.

Now, things are looking even better as the G2 (its codename) Panamera is built on the all-new, aluminum- and composite-intensive MSB platform that shaves nearly 100 kg (200 pounds) of total weight compared to the current car.

The one pictured here is the Turbo, with the twin, squared-off tailpipes giving it away and it’s fitted with carbon-ceramic brakes that, we presume, will be standard. Power will come from a twin-turbocharged V8, while the range will also include V6 and hybrid powertrains.
