Governor Samuel Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has dismissed reports that he is plotting to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor also denied alleged impeachment plans by the State House of Assembly.
Speaking with Famzn News on Wednesday, his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said such rumours were being distributed by some people who do not like the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
Akase said: “There is no such move to impeach the governor. Those are false rumours. There is a cordial relationship between the executive and the legislature and the state has not complained about anything.
“The Governor has not done anything that could warrant his impeachment. So, anybody that is peddling the rumour of impeachment, that person does not know Benue state. There’s no such thing in Benue.”
Speaking further, he said: “The Governor is not defecting to any other party. He is a member of the APC. He is a governor that likes his people and fights for their interests.
“I won’t deny that there are issues. The governor had issues with the leadership of the party but these issues have been resolved. Sometimes people disagree to make things work accordingly. These disagreements happen everywhere and leaders sit down to resolve issues.”
