Gov Wike speaking at the 9th General Assembly of the National Council of Traditional Rulers
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has they did some “financial engineering” before they could pay salaries for June despite not receiving the allocation from the Federal Government.
Wike said this on Thursday after the inspection of some projects in the State, stressing that payment of salaries remains his priority.
“Our business is to pay workers’ salaries, do projects and develop the state. We reasoned; do we because FAAC has not been released, fail to pay workers’ salaries?” he queried.
“We had to do some financial engineering to accommodate workers’ salaries, while projects are still going on. We came to serve and there are no excuses.”
As stated by him, his government is committed to making the people of the State happy by executing projects and programmes to make life easy for them.
