Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has revealed that he wears the No.7 shirt because his childhood idol was David Beckham.
Griezmann, who was a losing finalist in the Champions League and at Euro 2016 last season, also wears long sleeves in tribute to the former Manchester United winger.
The Frenchman has resisted interest from other clubs this summer to stay at Atletico but hinted he could emulate Beckham by playing in the Premier League in the future.
"I liked [Beckham] a lot," Griezmann told the Guardian. "He was my idol. That’s why I wear a long-sleeved jersey and wear the No.7."
When asked if he could ever be tempted by the prospect of playing in England, he replied: "Yes, why not? If I am out of contract with Atletico I would ask myself that question."
