The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board says no casualty was recorded among the pilgrims from the state in the stampede that occurred in Mina, on the way to Jamarat, where many pilgrims died.
In a statement on Monday, the 2015 Amir-ul- Hajj for the state, Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, stated no pilgrim from the state was missing when a head count was done at all the tents sheltering the over 3,000 pilgrims from the state in Mina, Saudi Arabia.
The statement read in part, “It was stated by the Saudi authorities that the Nigerians that were involved are from the northern part of the country.
“However, Iran, Pakistan, and other Arab countries have the major casualties”.
While lamenting the loss of lives at Jamarat, the Amir Ul hajj prayed that the “Almighty Allah will grant the dead Aljana firdous as well as grant the victims’ families the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.”
He added that the airlifting of the pilgrims from the state back home would commence from October 1, till October 6, 2015.
