The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has demanded the inclusion of Nigeria and other countries in Saudi Arabia's investigation into Thursday’s stampede that claimed more than 700 lives.
The Saudi king had on Thursday ordered immediate probe of the tragedy in Mina.
The Chairman, NAHCON, Mr. Abdullah Mohammed, in an interview with newsmen in Mina, Saudi Arabia, stated that it was proper to include Nigeria and other countries in the investigation to unravel the cause and prevent recurrence.
Mohammed said: “We commiserate with fellow Nigerians and others who died in the unfortunate incident. It is proper to wait for the official statement from Saudi Arabia authorities on the incident.
“The King has expressed his condolence to the Muslim world and ordered investigation. This probe should be extended to include Nigeria and officials of countries whose citizens are performing the pilgrimage and to also contribute to improve on conduct of Hajj exercise.”
