She's made no secret of her struggle with post-partum depression since welcoming her baby daughter to the world two years ago.

But on Thursday Nashville star Hayden Panettiere talked about her experience for the first time since last May when she posted on twitter that she was undergoing a second round of treatment.

The 27-year-old told Good Morning America host Sara Haines that 'it takes you a while' to realise there is something wrong. 'You feel off. You don’t feel like yourself.

'It absolutely helped me,' she stated. 'I think it helped me identify what was going on. And to let women know that it’s OK to ask for help and it’s OK to have a moment of weakness.

'It doesn’t make you a bad person, doesn’t make you a bad mother. It makes you a very strong, resilient woman. You’ve just got to let it make you stronger.'
