Former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp has suggested that the Chelsea winger's below-par campaign means that he would not fetch a significant fee in the transfer market
Former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes that Eden Hazard's disappointing 2015-16 campaign means rival clubs would not even be willing to pay £15 million for him.
The Chelsea winger, who was one of the stars of last season and scooped a PFA and FWA Player of the Year double, has struggled for consistency and has scored just one goal for the Blues since May 2015.
And while Redknapp believes Hazard is a "top-class player", he does not think that he is worth mega money on current form. He told Sky Sports: "There's a lot of talk about Real Madrid being the place he'd love to go and play.
"The most important thing for him now is to go and play well. Show us. People soon forget in football. Last year we were talking about him in Ronaldo and Messi terms.
"This year you think 'you probably wouldn't pay £15m-£20m for him'. That's how quickly things can change. He is a top-class player but we want to see it out on the pitch."
Hazard has been named in Chelsea's starting XI for the meeting with Newcastle, his first start in the league since the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at the beginning of January.
