The former Blues boss has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, and the Old Trafford midfielder has sung his praises
Ander Herrera has denied suggestions that Jose Mourinho's style of football would not suit Manchester United.
Mourinho has been heavily linked to United, with some reports claiming he is being lined up to take over from Louis van Gaal this summer.
Herrera said Van Gaal, whose contract expires in the summer of 2017, could still be in charge at Old Trafford come the start of next season, but played down the image of Mourinho as a negative coach.
"I find that funny [that Mourinho is considered negative]," Herrera said in an interview with Marca. "Let's see, Mourinho played at Chelsea with Cesc [Fabregas], Willian, Oscar, [Eden] Hazard and Diego Costa. There was only [Nemanja] Matic as a defensive midfielder. That's not an attractive style of play?
"Or at Madrid, where his side scored a record amount of goals in one year?
"And aside from that he is a coach who soaks up the pressure on the players, someone who prefers to take the heat so that his players can be relaxed.
"I only know that his Chelsea, with all the difficulty that comes with it, won the Premier League last season with four weeks to spare.
"Then, and this is the other thing, Van Gaal has a year of his contract left and could continue. Why not? But it doesn't seem to me that Mourinho is a defensive coach. If you compare him to [Rayo Vallecano coach] Paco Jemez then yes, but not in essence. I've seen his Chelsea side play well."
Mourinho's Chelsea won the 2014-15 Premier League title, finishing eight points ahead of Manchester City, who were the only side to score more goals than the champions least season.
But the Portuguese was sacked after a run of nine defeats during the first 16 league games of the 2015-16 campaign.
