Guus Hiddink admitted that John Terry could end up playing for one of Chelsea's Premier League rivals, as the defender prepares for a possible Blues farewell at the weekend.
The interim manager spoke ahead of Chelsea’s match against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday and faced questioning over the future of his captain Terry.
Terry picked up a red card in the final minutes of Chelsea’s visit to the Stadium of Light, which might be his last appearance at the club after earning a two game ban as his side lost 3-2.
"[Terry] will not easily go to another Premier League club”, Hiddink explained in a press conference.
“I can imagine that you speak out of your heart but as the weeks go on, you might change regarding this issue [playing for another Premier League club].”
Terry has been strongly linked to a move to China or the United States to retain his current salary and had previously stated he wouldn’t play for another English side after his side's 5-1 win against MK Dons in January.
“I couldn’t play for another Premier League club,” Terry signalled.
“I couldn’t do that to the Chelsea fans. It will be elsewhere for sure.”
Frank Lampard played for Manchester City after departing Chelsea going through MLS club New York City FC, linked to the Manchester giants.
