image Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh and his assistants, have penciled down 70 home based players as they continue the task of re building the Super Eagles. This was disclosed yesterday in Abuja by the team’s assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf, during the Eagles’ weekly interactive session with the media. Yusuf stated that the coaches would be inviting players from that pool of 70 based on the players’ current form. “We have about 70 players in our pool for different positions. What we have done for the game at hand against Tanzania was to pick based on current form. We monitor the performance of these players. You might have a good player but on current form he may not just be there, what that means is that he wont get a call up until when he finds his rhythm,” Yusuf said. According to Yusuf, the Eagles technical crew is working assiduously to build a formidable team that would bring back the glorious days of Nigerian football, even as he added that the Eagles is not a place for green horns. “We will always strive to go for the best legs the country can boast of. Mind you, the Eagles is not a place for green horns. We are going to do our best to build a team Nigerians will be proud of. A team that will bring back the glorious days of our football.” On the availability of Gbolahan Salami for the Tanzania game, Yusuf said the player had already travelled to Lagos to sort things out with the Norwegian Embassy. “Salami as we speak, is in Lagos to see how he can get his passport back, so his making the cut will depend on the outcome of his visit to the Norwegian Embassy,’’ he said.
