To mark Nigeria's 55th Independence anniversary, Africa’s fast-growing pentecostal church, House on the Rock, in partnership with the United States Embassy in Nigeria will screen for the first time in Nigeria, the all-new 2015 thriller, “Captive”.

The star-studded American crime-drama produced by Paramount Pictures will be premiered on Thursday, October 1 at the Rock Cathedral Auditorium, Lekki-Epe expressway.

The movie is based on the non-fiction book, “Unlikely Angel” by Ashley Smith. It is based on the true-life story of Brian Nichols who famously broke out of prison in 2005 and went on a killing spree.
The film, however, is more about the relationship he (Nichols) developed with one of his kidnapped victims and the road to redemption.

David Oyelowo, Golden Globe Award nominee of Nigerian descent, stars as Brian Nichols alongside Kate Mara in “Captive”, the movie which has been praised by critics as an excellent documentary portraying how a purpose driven life can awaken the spirit of positivity and a will to overcome in the life of any human being against all odds.

“Captive” is directed by Jerry Jameson and written by Brian Bird and Reinhard Denke.

Speaking on the upcoming premiere, Paul Adefarasin, senior pastor, The House On The Rock, stated the screening of Captive which coincides with the celebration of Nigeria’s 55th Independence day anniversary is aimed at further promoting peace, nation building and the development of minds and purpose towards achieving the Nigeria of our dreams.

“At House On The Rock, we will not stop to innovate and seek mediums to spread the gospel of faith in unconventional ways to inspire both the churched and unchurched people in the world,” stated Adefarasin.

House on The Rock has chosen the film medium to promote orderliness, tranquillity and purposeful leadership in Nigeria.
