Flat sina to get N2bn support for housing

Safaz Shelter Developers and Properties Company has earmarked over N2 billion for the construction of 700 houses in Katsina State.
Alhaji Ahmed Dalhatu, the Managing Director of the company, disclosed this on Wednesday in Katsina, during foundation laying ceremony by Gov. Aminu Masari.
He stated that the construction of the 700 houses would be under public private partnership agreement.
As stated by Dalhatu, Safaz will single handedly finance the construction of the 700 houses, while the Katsina State government will provide the land.
“The company will construct 500 houses in Katsina metropolis and the houses will be in three categories of two bedrooms, three bedrooms and four bedroom bungalows.
“The company is ready to construct 100 housing units each in Daura and Funtua towns of the state, the houses will be affordable for the working class.
“We are ready to even bring banks and other financial institution to provide soft loans to the public and private workers in the state,” he stated.
Gov. Masari commended the company for choosing Katsina State to construct the houses for sales to both the civil servants and members of the public.
“The present Katsina State administration is ever ready to support any company that desires to set-up a branch in Katsina State.
“We are also calling on Safaz Company to build qualitative houses that will also reflect our culture and tradition as Hausa/Fulani people, “ he stated.
The company pledged to complete the houses within one year.
It would be recalled that in May Ithe State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transports, Alhaji Tasiu Dahiru, said the government had revoked 76 housing allocation awarded by the previous administration.
The commissioner explained that the houses were not allocated in accordance with the law.
Dahiru further said that the state needed to construct 70,000 additional houses for the citizenry.
As stated by him, the government will join hands with Private Partners to make shelter available and affordable for people of the state.
He urged the people to continue to support the administration’s policies which, he said, were aimed at moving the state forward and improving their living condition.
