It was a gory site on Friday as a suicide bomber killed at least 21 people in an attack on a Shia Muslim procession in Nigeria's Kano state, eyewitnesses and organisers say.
As stated by eye witness accounts, the attack happened shortly after a man was arrested in possession of a bomb.
“We lost 21 people and several others have been injured,” Muhammad Turi from the Islamic Movement of Nigeria stated.
The blast took place in the village of Dakasoye, about 20km (13 miles) south of the provincial capital.
Most of the those affected were stated to be followers of the popular cleric, Sheik Zaky Zaky.
The blast occurred weeks to the deadline given by the Federal Government to the military to end the scourge of insurgency in the country. There have been sustained attacks on the North East and North central axis of the country after the declaration. There are also fears that the extremists group might be making its ways to other parts of the country.
