Remember the (latest) Ferrari owner to conduct a so-called ‘social experiment’ with their supercar seeing if it attracts women? Well, the same guy had a mishap with his F430 when a car bumped into the driver’s side door.
“It was a very painful experience, but on the positive side after experiencing it, I decided to really experience and enjoy the car and forget about everything else (including resale value),” YouTuber ‘Leviathan Toronto’ told us in an email.
Just how painful was it? “Here is one line item from the invoice (out of 60): 28 100815 BDY REMOVE/REPLACE L Frt Door Shell N.A. 19,177.41 * 12.0* T” he pointed out.
And that bold number refers to Canadian dollars, with the entire cost of the door replacement reaching a stratospheric (for us plebeians) CA$40,000, which is about US$31,100 at the current exchange rates. The owner said it took 6 months to get all the parts together and complete the fix, with the shop charging for over 60 hours of labor.
But it’s covered by the other motorist’s insurance, right? Wrong, as in Canada at least, the driver is at 100% at fault here if they open or leave the door open.
