With a small 4-cylinder turbocharged engine at its disposal, the all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra 'Eco' is said to return an EPA estimated 40 highway mpg & 35 mpg mixed, making it the most fuel efficient version of the Elantra.
According to FuelEconomy.gov, the Elantra Eco's mpg ratings could result in average annual fuel costs of just $900, for which the efficiency of the EcoShift Dual Clutch transmission with Shifttronic would also be partly responsible.

On the road, the 'Eco' uses an all-new 1.4-liter Kappa engine, with 128 HP and 156 lb-ft (211 Nm) of torque available between 1,400 - 3,700 rpm, working together with the previously mentioned 7-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2017 Elantra Eco also comes with plenty of standard equipment, such as the LED Daytime Running Lights, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-traffic Alert & Lane Change Assist, leather-wrapped steering wheel & shifter knob, dual automatic temperature control, push-to-start and heated front seats.

Price-wise, the added specs and better fuel efficiency of the 'Eco' will cost US buyers $3,500 more than what they would be spending on the entry-level 2017 Elantra SE - though the flagship Elantra Limited version costs $1,700 more than the 'Eco', justified by the 2.0-liter engine and a few extra features.
