The Japan international full-back loves life in Italy and has hinted that he could spend the rest of his career in Serie A, if not with Roberto Mancini's men

Yuto Nagatomo has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to move to Manchester United in order to remain with Inter.

The Japan international, 29, signed for the San Siro outfit in 2011 and has no plans to depart in the immediate future, even suggesting he could spend the rest of his career with Roberto Mancini’s men.

“I want to stay here – I even rejected Manchester United so I could stay in Italy,” he told Inter Channel.

“I am happy at Inter, I've been here for five years and I like the atmosphere, from my team-mates to the staff.

“The season I am having has been great. There is no better time to be at Inter.

“I really like Italy. I feel at home and maybe I could stay until the end of my career.”

Meanwhile, the full-back turned his attention towards the forthcoming Serie A fixture against Fiorentina as the Nerazzurri attempt to get their ailing title challenge back on track.

“It will be difficult, but we are Inter and we must win. We are preparing very well for the game,” he said.

Having won only one of their last six league outings, Inter have tumbled down the standings from top to fourth – a distant 11 points behind leaders Napoli.
