New captain of the Ibadan Golf Club, Idowu Salami, has pledged to build on the club’s rich culture, which has over the years put the club among the best in the country.
Salami became captain of the club unopposed after his nomination by Bashir Ayinde, which was seconded by Otunba Olugbenga Runsewe.
Speaking after the investiture as captain of the club, Salami said, “It is an extreme honour and rare privilege to be elected as the captain of a golf club, not to talk of Ibadan Golf Club, that is, considering the enviable status and the peculiar pedigree of the club.
“I am overwhelmed by the level of support I got from members. I just pray that it will not wane or dwindle. I pledge not to disappoint them.”
He also pledged to build on the excellence the club is association, saying, “I will ensure that I promote the name of Ibadan Golf Club as the home of hospitality.”
Other officers in the new leadership, which tenure will run from April 1 March 31, 2017, are Olumide Oyediran, who got 66 votes to defeat Col. Ade Sunmonu, who got 63 votes and Chief Peter O. Oyasor, who got 34 votes to emerged as Second Vice Captain.
The two new Lady Captains are Mrs. Annunciata Oladejo and Ms. Folashade Dorcas Oni.
Akande Babatunde is the new Secretary, while Chief Olujide Sarayi, who recorded 96 votes to defeat Mr. Adache Thomas (67 votes) became the Competition Secretary.
Oladiran Ishola-Ibironke is the House and Bar Officer, Bernard Nduka is the Course Officer, Adekunle A. Adetimirin joins them as the Treasurer of the Club, while Prince Abiodun Kola-Daisi is the Handicap Officer.
