The PSG full-back has lauded his striker team-mate, stating that the Swede is an example for the club's aspiring youngsters with his work-rate and commitment
Paris Saint-Germain left-back Maxwell has singled out team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a perfect example of the type of professional young players should endeavour to learn from.
In an exclusive interview withΒ Goal, the Brazilian spoke of the difficulties young players face in breaking into the Ligue 1 champions' first team.
And while Maxwell insists their time will come, he believes that PSG's starlets have the chance to learn from the very best in the interim.
βIt's not an easy situation for the young guys because they don't play much,β he said. βBut football goes very quickly.
βI hope that all our youngsters continue to be exemplary. They can use Ibrahimovic as an example β he works and trains each day like it was his first.
βZlatan's story speaks for itself, and so does his career. He has always been decisive and it continues to be that way in Paris.β
With Sunday's derby against Marseille fast approaching, Maxwell admits he knew little of the rivalry before his arrival at the club, but says the importance of the clash was made clear the first time he lined up against OM.
βI didn't know much about the clubs' rivalry before I arrived,β he said. βBut from the moment the first fixture approached everyone explained just how important the matches against Marseille are.
βIt's a special match, like all derbies. We must win. It's a great experience to play in matches like that β and do anything to win.β
