An Igbo group, Voice from the East (VEAST), has given herdsmen up until August 31, 2018 to depart the South East, Anioma in Delta State, and Ikwere in Rivers State.
Convener of the group, Kindness Jonah, gave the ultimatum on Tuesday after it went on a peaceable protest in Enugu.
Jonah stated, “We carried out the demonstration for the only function of giving give up discover to Fulani herdsmen in Igboland, the 5 South Eastern states in addition to Anioma and Ikwerre land.
“The aberrant killings by Fulani herdsmen purposely unchecked by Federal Government and navy instigated this give up discover.
“At Ezi Nze in UDI Local Government Area of Enugu State, Fulani herdsmen kidnapped a number of younger males, demanding N2 million compensation for purported killing of undisclosed variety of cows, out of which N6000,00zero.00 has been paid.
“VEAST sees this as an affront of the best order which may not be tolerated in Igboland.
”After 31st August, 2018, since no person holds the monopoly of violence and for the mere incontrovertible fact that the Nigerian navy and police are working secretly, brazenly with the herdsmen, VEAST will galvanise younger males from all Igboland to enter Igbo forests to kill and butcher any Fulani herdsmen.”
