The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered a water-tight security around media houses in the country.
As stated by a statement issued in Abuja by the Force Spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, the move is aimed at checking attacks on the media houses and journalists in the country.
The IGP stated he acknowledges the valuable roles of the media to the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria.
He has, however, advised citizens to be more vigilant and proactive and report any suspicious movement to police for appropriate action.
