Toilet-1It was a joyous moment for teachers and pupils of Opebi Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos, as they received a 12-room toilet, borehole and a generating set from the Rotary Club of Ikeja.

The project, which was commissioned by the District 9110 governor, Otunba Bola Onabadejo, was a relief for the over 350 pupils that have been without the facility in the past four years.

Speaking at the commissioning, Onabadejo said the project was a demonstration of the club’s commitment to better the society. He extolled the Ikeja Rotary club for the project, which falls within the water and sanitation programme of Rotary International.

For the Club President, Tosin Kadiri, the project, which cost the club over N1.5 million, was aimed at promoting hygienic environment for the pupils and teachers, especially with the recent outbreak of Ebola and Lassa fever.

He noted that apart from the toilet, the club renovated the borehole and provided a stand-by generating set to ensure proper maintece of the facility.

Elated by the gesture, head teacher, Mrs. Grace Familua, thanked the club for coming to their rescue after several presentations to the government in the past four years. She promised to ensure its adequate maintece.
