No fewer than 200 Muslim clerics on Sunday converged on the Kano residence of a former Kano State governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, to hold a marathon prayer session to seek divine intervention over Shekarau’s alleged involvement in the assassination of the popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Jafar Mahmoud Adams, in April 2007.

The prayer session, which commenced at about 12pm was led by Ustaz Mohammed Sadiq and it lasted for about three hours even as the cleric alleged that the former governor was being framed up.

“No one is indispensable, as even Prophet Mohammed (SAW) encountered conspiracy and betrayal by his followers, so Sardauna’s case should not be viewed as an exception,” Sadiq stated.

The ex-governor said he was not involved in Adam’s murder even as he called for calm among his supporters.
