Another company is ready to take advantage of India’s growing mobile market.

Indian mobile startup Mech Mocha announced today that it finished a round of funding worth $1 million. This can help the Bangalone-based company grow and launch games, which in turn can help it succeed in an Indian mobile market expected to grow to $3 billion by 2019. Blume Ventures and Flipkart participated in the funding.

Mech Mocha focuses on games with Indian cultural content. Its latest release, Chhota Bheem — Himalayan Game, is based on a popular cartoon character in India.

“Smartphone penetration in India assures that mobile gaming will be huge, with major growth drivers being the Tier 2 [population of 50,000 to 99,999] and Tier 3 [20,000 to 49,999] cities,” Arpita Kapoor, co-founder and chief executive officer at Mech Mocha, noted in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “So, we are working with a laser-sharp focus on understanding the mass Indian gamer in primarily three segments: Chintu [6-15 year olds in urban/semi-urban areas], youngsters, and Bhabhi ji [homemakers in urban areas] — who already spend many hours on their mobile devices daily.”
