osun doctorsThe national leadership of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and ‎the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) have commenced talks with the Osun State government on the possibility of ending the industrial action by doctors in LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

The doctors had embarked on the strike demanding for payment of full salaries, implementation of CONMESS and autonomy for LAUTECH teaching hospital, Osogbo.

At the meeting held at the state secretariat, Abere, all parties in the deliberation agreed that the part payment of salaries was temporary and the state government would pay when the economy of the state improves.

The National President of the Association of Resident doctors, Mohammed Askira, expressed optimism that the deliberation was yielding some level of progress.

Dr Askira stated that the doctors would comply with the state government’s decision even if it decides to carry out the ‘No Work, No Pay’ policy.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to Osun State Government, Gboyega Oyetola, has urged the doctors to exercise patience with the government and return to work.
