File: A Youth Corper Conducting Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has mobilised over 15,000 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members for July’s governorship election in Ekiti.
INEC’s National Commissioner Adedeji Soyebi revealed this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti the state’s capital.
Soyebi told Ekiti state TV that, “the deployment of 15,000 corps members is one of the measures put in place INEC to ensure fairness to all parties and the credibility of the exercise.”
As stated by him, INEC is partnering security agencies to guarantee safety of officials and voters during the poll.
He assured political parties that the electoral body will be unbiased and ready to deliver a free and fair election
In addition, he admonished parties to submit the list of their agents in line with the timeline for the poll.
On electronic voting, Soyebi said, ”We are not definitely going to have it 2019 but we will get there very soon.”
