President Rowhani: blasts Trump for walls
Iranian President Hassan Rowhani on Saturday criticized the isolationist policies of US President Donald Trump, claiming that his planned construction of a Mexican border wall runs contrary to modern values of cooperation between countries.
“The times in which people were separated by walls are over,” Rowhani said in a statement available on his website.
“We live in a time of globalization … that has made all nations into neighbours.”
Rowhani added that political differences between nations could only be solved through dialogue.
Tehran and Washington have not had a diplomatic relationship for nearly four decades, and Iran is considered one of the United States’ foremost geopolitical rivals.
