Damien Duff believes that the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 showdown against Italy could be Robbie Keane's last ever game for the Boys in Green.

After drawing against Sweden and losing to Belgium in Group E, Martin O'Neill's side take on the Azzurri in Lille needing a victory in order to boost their chances of making the last 16 of the tournament.

And Duff, who played alongside Keane for Ireland throughout his career, suggested that it could well be the LA Galaxy striker's last international game, should they fail to secure a result.

"It'll be an emotional game because it could, god forbid, be his last game for Ireland. If we get knocked out, I'd say it will be."

The former Chelsea and Newcastle United star also believes that Keane, who turns 36 in July, does not receive the recognition he deserves.

"He doesn't get enough credit, for me. I mean the goalscoring record is ridiculous. It will never get beaten, nobody will ever get near it," added Duff.

"I love him to bits. Obviously I've been to war with him many times and he deserves more credit because he's an amazing player and an amazing goalscorer."

Ireland take on Italy at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille. The game kicks off at 20:00.
