Phased out after the 2015 model year with a special edition called Final Fifty, Jag's former halo model is not about to get resurrected.

Talking to Car&Driver, JLR North America CEO Joe Eberhardt explained that such a model would have been priced in excess of $125,000, limiting its appeal and interfering with the firm's plans to double its sales this year.

Right now, Eberhardt is happy with the F-Type and XJ sales in the US, where roughly 400 units are delivered each month, and he hopes that growth will come from its volume models, the XE, XF and F-Pace SUV. Additional vehicles will be considered to expand the lineup, but nothing smaller than the XE compact saloon.

When it comes to Land Rover, the JLR official isn’t concerned by the Bentley Bentayga or upcoming Rolls-Royce Project Cullinan SUV, even though they are both targeting limited-edition Range Rovers such as the SVAutobiography and the Holland & Holland, and sticks to his initial statements that no different nameplate will slot above the Range Rover: "We defined this segment, we own it, and we will defend it", Eberhardt added.
