James Rodriguez will not leave Real Madrid in the January transfer window, according to the Colombia international’s agent Jorge Mendes.

The 25-year-old had been expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu after being reduced to a bit-part role and admitting he had offers from other teams.

James has subsequently been linked with a whole host of clubs including Juventus who have hinted they could move for the playmaker.

However, Mendes has now seemingly ruled out a January exit from the Bernabeu telling AS: “James will not be leaving Madrid in January.”

James had previous revealed his frustrations at the Bernabeu and hinted at leaving when speaking after the Club World Cup final against Kashima Antlers.

“I can't assure I will stay at Real Madrid," he said. "I have offers and seven days left to think about my future.

“I am happy in Madrid, but I want to play more. I have a bitter feeling as I wanted to play the final, but I am happy for the title. It's the 15th title of my career.”

James signed for Madrid in 2014 and his current deal runs until 2020 although should he fail to force his way into the Real Madrid starting line-up, it would be little surprise to see him leave in the summer.

Madrid's transfer ban has been reduced recently meaning Zidane's men will be able to sign players when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
