The former Appeals Court President died within the early hours of Sunday
President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria has misplaced a man of integrity in former President of the Court of Appeal Justice Mustapha Akanbi.
Akanbi, the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), died within the early hours of Sunday in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital. He was 86.
He was laid to relaxation based on Islamic rites on Sunday morning in Ilorin.
And Buhari, in a condolence message the late Akanbi can be remembered for his monumental contributions in bringing credibility and respectability to Nigeria’s judiciary.
“Being revered by the individuals on your honesty and patriotism is the most effective legacy a man can go away behind,” he stated.
“In a country where corruption is perceived as fashionable, Akanbi stood out as a remarkable man who put personal integrity and selflessness before the desire for money outside his legitimate income.”
