The Kaduna State Security outfit, code-named Operation Yaki, said today that the 107 vehicles, procured by the state government to boost security in the state, would soon be distributed to security agencies in the state.
The coordinator of the outfit, Col. Yakubu Yusuf, said this during the visit of officials of the state chapter of the Police Community Relations Committee to the state Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, today.
El-Rufai had, at the 4th Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, said the government had approved the purchase of 107 vehicles for security agencies in the state.
This, he said, was to boost the security of lives and property of the people of the state.
Col. Yusuf said: “On behalf of his Excellency, your presentation and requests will be taken to the governor in the next one hour.
“The place for your office and vehicle requirements will be considered. I think you have even come at the right time when Operation Yaki outfit is preparing to distribute vehicles that was purchased by the state government.
“We have about 107 brand new jeeps. And we are looking at the modality for the distributing the various security outfits in the state and I want to assure you that your committee will benefit from this.”
The PCRC’s Chairman, Mr. Linus Alhassan, called for the creation of three additional area commands in the state.
He said the state, being the third largest in the country, needed additional area commands to enhance effective monitoring of crimes.
