The MLS Players Union released its biannual list of its players' salaries on Thursday, with Orlando City star Kaka topping the league's money list.
The Brazilian will make $7,167,500 in guaranteed compensation in 2016, narrowly edging out reigning MVP Sebastian Giovinco for the title of highest-paid MLS player. The Toronto FC star will take home $7,115,555.67 in guaranteed compensation in 2016.
Giovinco's teammate Michael Bradley comes in third on the list, followed by LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard and then his former international teammate Frank Lampard. The New York City FC midfielder's inclusion is sure to irk the club's fans, as Lampard has only made 10 total appearances for NYCFC and has yet to make his 2016 debut due to a calf injury.
Toronto FC and New York City FC each have three representatives in the league's top 10 highest-paid players, as Jozy Altidore completes TFC's trio, while Andrea Pirlo and David Villa come in sixth and seventh, respectively.
New Colorado Rapids signing Tim Howard just misses the top 10, with a guaranteed compensation of $2,575,000 making him by far the league's best-paid goalkeeper.
