Newcastle completed the loan signing of Kenedy from Chelsea yesterday as Rafa Benitez swooped for his first January recruit.
The Magpies have long sought after the 21-year-old and first tried to sign him on loan in the summer transfer window.
Benitez finally landed the former Brazilian under-20 international yesterday and he becomes only the fourth player from Brazil to have represented Newcastle.
Below, we take a look back at the three other Brazilians to have donned the Black-and-white stripes over the years.
Claudio Cacapa
Cacapa arrived at Newcastle with a fearsome reputation in French football.
He had captained Lyon for five years, leading them to five successive Ligue 1 titles as Les Gones dominated French football between 2001 and 2007.
He played alongside great players such as Michael Essien, Florent Malouda, Sidney Govou, Juninho, Cris, Éric Abidal, Mahamadou Diarra, Patrick Müller and Karim Benzema, as Lyon became a genuine threat on the European stage.

He refused to sign a new deal at the end of the 2006/07 season and it was considered a bit of a coup when he arrived at Newcastle on a free transfer.
But his time at Newcastle was blighted by inconsistency and injury and he returned to his native Brazil following the Magpies’ relegation to the Championship in 2009.
Fumaca
The midfielder had a largely forgettable loan spell with Newcastle in 1999.
Between 1998 and 2000, he took in a number of loan spells in Europe from Brazilian side Catuense, spending short spells with Benfica, Birmingham, Colchester, Barnsley and Crystal Palace.
Newcastle was the final stop of his UK tour and after just five league appearances the Magpies cast him aside as another appearance would trigger a deal to buy him permanently.

He returned to Brazil but went on to have further loan spells in the Czech Republic and the lower divisions in Germany.
Hopefully Kenedy’s loan deal will prove to be slightly more memorable.
Mirandinha
In 1987, Mirandinha became the first Brazilian player to play his club football in England and if there is a former Brazilian Magpie Kenedy will be keen to emulate, it would be him.
The Brazilian international spent two seasons on Tyneside, scoring 24 goals in 67 games, including a memorable brace against Manchester United.

Newcastle were relegated to Division Two at the end of his time at the club and Mirandinha returned to former club Palmeiras in 1989.
The chant “We’ve got Mirandinha, he’s not from Argentina, he’s from Brazil, he’s ******* brill,” is still fondly remembered to this day.
