A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae has revealed that he was nearly killed by his abductors who kept him in their custody for four days.
While receiving members of the OOdua Peoples Congress (OPC), led by Chief Gani Adams at his residence in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Falea said there were attempts to kill him while in the custody of his abductors.
However, the elder statesman said that his ordeal in the hands of his abductors would be a blessing to him if only the Yoruba people are liberated from Fulanis.
He said his suffering would amount to nothing if the Fulanis continue to attack the Yoruba people.
Falae, a chieftain of the pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere was kidnapped on his farm in Ilado, Akure North Local Government Area of the state for four days and later released after the payment of N5 million ransom by his family.
He said his abductors had wanted to kill him as they shot his vehicle several times before he was later kidnapped and taken to a forest.
Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the hoodlums, Falae said: “they were not after money alone; they wanted to eliminate me by shooting my car thinking I was inside the car. They later walked into my office with their sharp knives and cutlasses and started matcheting my body before they took me into the bush.
“We trekked from Akure to Owo, following bush paths and swampy areas on my bare legs till we got to an area close to Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo state.”
He noted that his ordeal was just one out of several occurrences which many people have suffered in the hands of the Fulani herdsmen, adding that the Fulani herdsmen were involved in rape, looting and killing of innocent persons.
