Kidnap Victim Delivers Twins at Kogi IDP Camp
A woman recently rescued from kidnappers has safely given birth to twin girls at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Kogi State, Nigeria, as confirmed by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, in a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja.
For security reasons, the identity of the mother is currently being withheld. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has swiftly directed the State Security Adviser and the Commissioner for Health to ensure the immediate transfer of the mother and her newborns to the State Specialist Hospital. There, they will receive comprehensive medical attention and crucial postnatal care.
Stable Condition for Mother and Babies
Mr Fanwo confirmed that both the mother and the babies are in stable condition, a testament to the care received at the IDP camp and the prompt action by the state authorities.
It is important to recall that the State Government established the IDP camp as a temporary rehabilitation centre. This facility provides essential care and support to rescued victims of kidnapping before they are reintegrated with their families and communities.
Increasing Numbers at the Camp
Following ongoing security operations across the state, the number of rescued victims at the camp has been steadily increasing. This highlights the ongoing challenges posed by criminality in the region and the critical role played by these rehabilitation centres.
Mr Fanwo reiterated the governmentβs unwavering commitment to the welfare and rehabilitation of all rescued victims. He also commended the security operatives for their sustained successes in the fight against criminality across the state, acknowledging their dedication and efforts in ensuring public safety.
