The 29-year-old suffered a calf injury in the Champions League on Tuesday and Belgium's coach believes he may now miss the rest of the domestic campaign
Vincent Kompany faces the prospect of missing the remainder of Manchester City’s season, according to Belgium coach Marc Wilmots.
The 29-year-old pulled up with a calf problem in the first half of the goalless draw against Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday evening, although City have yet to put a definitive timescale on the defender’s recovery.
Kompany has already been ruled out of Sunday’s Manchester derby against United at the Etihad Stadium, but Wilmots is claiming that City’s captain is in line for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"Vincent Kompany will be out for six to eight weeks,” Wilmots said at Friday’s press conference.
“He hass injured at the other calf."
