Vincent Kompany has been forced off with an injury during the opening minutes of Manchester City's Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid.
There was no-one around the City captain when he went down in pain after only nine minutes of the match and immediately looked in some distress. T
he Belgium international has been beset by injury problems over the course of this campaign, with his calf especially vulnerable, but on this occasion it seemed to be his left groin that gave him trouble.
Eliaquim Mangala was the man chosen by Manuel Pellegrini to replace the 30-year-old, who has already missed a total of 25 fixtures for the Citizens this term.
Kompany sat out Manchester City's quarter-final victory over Paris Saint-Germain, but was present for the full 90 minutes as the Etihad side secured a scoreless draw last week.
The English side are bidding to reach the final of the Champions League for the first time....
