Former Gov Olusegun Mimiko
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Labour party on Wednesday rejected plans by former Governor of Ondo state Olusegun Mimiko to return to the employeesβ party.
Chairman of the party Mike Omotosho advised journalists that the NLC was totally conscious of plans Mimiko to allegedly destabilise the present good points being made by the party.
βIt is very obvious that the sole purpose of Mimikoβs re-approach to Labour Party is to use the workersβ party to launder his sagging political image,β he mentioned.
βNigerians would recall that Mimiko deserted the Labour Party for the Peoples Democratic Party a few days to Labour Partyβs October 2015 National Convention.
βSuch a treachery and betrayal of a party that gave the previous Governor succour within the darkest hour of his political profession.
βEspecially, because it manifests in his two time period victory on the ticket of Labour Party is to say the least, low-cost and callous.
βIt also revealed paucity of knowledge of the philosophy of the Labour Party as a people rooted party and dearth of class consciousness on his part.β
