The Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) ‎on Wednesday disclosed thatthe autopsy report on the death of a 200 level female students confirmed that she died naturally.

Mr Tayo Sekoni, the LASUSU President, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He spoke to NAN on the sideline of a news briefing organised by the union at the institution’s main campus in Ojo, Lagos.

Sekoni stated.the autopsy report confirmed that Gbadeyan’s death was natural and unconnected to anyone.

He stated that following the autopsy report, the students union filed a case on behalf of 11 students suspended by the university authority in connection with the incident

“Since nobody was connected to Gbadeyan’s death, the suspension had been lifted by the management.

He stated.the union taught it was unwise for the suspended students to be ‎ punished for a sin they did not commit and the university‎ authority reasoned with the union’s view.

“We, however, pray the departed soul will rest in peace,’’ he stated.

NAN recalls that Miss Omolara Gbadeyan, a female student in the Department of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Faculty of Management Science in the university, died on Feb 11.

She died at a party hosted by the History and International Studies Students Association at an event centre in Igando, Igando/Ikotun Local Government Development Area.

A bulletin issued by the university authority had stated.the organisers of the party did not inform it nor seek its approval for the event.

As stated by the university, this is contrary to the rules and regulations of the institution.

“The university management received the shocking news after the sad event had occurred and immediately swung into action,’’ the bulletin stated.

NAN also recalled that the authorities later suspended 11 former executive members of the Students Society of History and International Studies (SSOHIS) indefinitely over the incident.

It stated.the students were the organisers of the party that led to the death of Gbadeyan.
