The elation that followed Eden Hazard’s equaliser against Tottenham may have died down somewhat, but in a season of remarkable atmospheres at the King Power Stadium, the decibel level is set to reach a new high when Leicester City finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy.
While the Foxes' title win did not quite have the fairytale ending of them securing the silverware while on the pitch themselves, Leicester supporters do at least have the opportunity to congratulate their heroes in person for their remarkable achievements.
The hysteria that has surrounded the club in recent days is like nothing seen before in at least two decades of English football, and players and fans alike deserve the opportunity to continue their celebrations for weeks to come.
The clamour to be at Saturday’s clash with Everton is greater than anything Leicester have witnessed before as a club. Tickets have changed hands for thousands online while even visiting supporters from Merseyside have been warned about selling their tickets to locals from the east Midlands.
Though Kasabian sold out their upcoming show at the King Power Stadium in just six minutes, Saturday's clash remains the hottest ticket in town.
And while the overriding emotion emanating from the 36,000-seater stadium will be joy, there will certainly be a whole heap of emotion to go alongside it. Claudio Ranieri has already shed tears for the cause once this season after victory at Sunderland, and with his first top-flight title now secured following an otherwise illustrious managerial career there could be a similar outpouring at full-time against the Toffees.
Danny Drinkwater – who will join in the celebrations post-match as he serves a suspension – will get the opportunity to lift a trophy he never got the chance to win as a youngster at Manchester United. Jamie Vardy – for all his faults – will also get his hands on silverware that he would have been forgiven for thinking he had thrown away the chance of winning as a youngster in non-league football.
There are stories of redemption and hope throughout this Leicester squad, and club captain Wes Morgan – who has kept his emotions in check throughout the whole campaign – is just hoping he does not become a blubbering mess with the world’s media on him on Saturday evening.
"I'm just going to try and hold back the tears," he told Sky Sports. "I think it's going to be very emotional. It's the biggest moment in my life and I can't wait to hold the trophy and get my hands on it.
"I can officially say I'm going to get my hands on the trophy right now. It's an achievement that might never be achieved again so I'm just taking it all in now, enjoying the moment… and I can't wait until Saturday."
Morgan’s words are being echoed around Leicester in anticipation of the culmination of what is as close to a miracle as many of them has seen in sport. If he does indeed find himself in tears, he is unlikely to be the only one on what is sure to be one of the occasions that goes down in Premier League history.
