Veteran CB Leon Hall is visiting the Giants Wednesday and could be signed to the roster as a free agent by the end of the day, according to ESPN and NFL Newtork reports.
Hall would give the Giants depth at a position that is already fairly well supplied with talent but lacks a true slot corner. The Giants have dabbled with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and rookie Eli Apple there, and Trevin Wade has the most experience at the spot. Hall, 31, has more experience on the inside.
He’s coming off back surgery this offseason, which is one of the reasons why the Bengals parted ways with him after nine seasons in Cincinnati. Interestingly, the Bengals are another team besides the Giants that are interested in signing Hall. With CB William Jackson III injured, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said on Tuesday that the team had been in talks with Hall.
Hall has been on the Giants’ radar since his release. They had him in for a free agent visit in May but passed on him then, perhaps because of his early stages of recovery from the back surgery.
