Fulham's return to the Premier League means that this is the first season in 11 years to feature 7 London clubs. That means no fewer than 42 London derbies to look forward to, and the early weeks of the season have already whetted the appetite with a couple of crackers.
But of the ten capital clubs to play in the Premier League since its inception, which of them has the best record in London derbies? Obviously some have played more than others, so we've crunched the numbers to order them by points per game.
Which teams have _capital_ised on their opponents weaknesses, and which have suffered capital punishment? Ahem. On with the list...
10. Watford
Point Per Derby: 0.769
The Hornets are bringing up the rear with a dismal points per game average. This poor record exists mostly because Watford's first two Premier League seasons were abysmal, as they were relegated in 20th place on both occasions, picking up just one derby win per season.
There are encouraging signs for Watford though. A third of their nine London derby victories came last season, as Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham were all beaten at Vicarage Road. It was the first season in which the Hornets have averaged more than 1 point per derby.
However, they will need to continue this improvement for several seasons if they are to stand any chance of catching their nearest competitors.
9. Fulham
Point Per Derby: 0.893
If this list was based on total points accumulated in London derbies, Fulham would actually be sitting pretty in 5th. But a disappointing points average shows that the Cottagers have often struggled to compete with their more prestigious city rivals.
Now back in the Premier League for the first time in four years, Fulham's record shows few signs of improving. In their first two games of the season they've lost to London rivals, first against Crystal Palace on the opening day and then to Tottenham.
Fulham finished bottom of the London derbies table when they were relegated in 2013/14, so they must be careful to avoid the same fate again.
8. Crystal Palace
Point Per Derby: 0.978
With just two wins from ten, Palace's London derby record last season was the poorest of any capital-based club. This is not out of the ordinary for the Eagles, who have lost more than half of the London derbies they've played in the Premier League.
Surely Palace's worst derby memory came in 2005, when a 2-2 draw at Charlton on the final day consigned them to relegation - victory would have kept them up.
Their opening day win at Fulham may indicate a change of fortunes, and they can continue their improving record with three points at Vicarage Road against Watford this weekend.
7. Queens Park Rangers
Point Per Derby: 1.014
What QPR fans wouldn't give for a Premier League London derby right now. Trips to the Emirates and Stamford Bridge seem a long way away as they currently sit in the Championship relegation zone after a poor start to the season.
Last time Rangers were in the top flight, they failed to win a single London derby - the only team to do so in the last seven Premier League seasons. In their absence, they've nearly been caught up by Palace, who are now just two wins away from overtaking their points average in derbies.
6. Charlton Athletic
Point Per Derby: 1.103
Once Premier League mainstays, Charlton's memories of the top flight are now distant. It's more than a decade since the Addicks were last among the elite, and on that occasion they won just one London derby - a 4-0 win against West Ham.
A total of 23 London derby wins hints at happier times for Charlton though, and in their heyday they enjoyed many famous derby wins, including a 4-2 victory at Champions-elect Arsenal in 2001, and another win by that same scoreline against title-challenging Chelsea on Boxing Day 2003.
Now mired in League One, it doesn't look like Charlton will be playing their 79th Premier League derby anytime soon.
5. Wimbledon FC
Point Per Derby: 1.213
Forever cemented in time by their dissolution in 2004, Wimbledon's London derby record is one to be proud of. In their eight seasons of top-flight football, they only lost 33 of their 80 London derbies, and their points average is not far behind Premier League mainstays West Ham.
The phoenix club AFC Wimbledon has renewed acquaintances with a couple of old rivals in recent years, travelling to Tottenham in the third round of last season's FA Cup. They will face West Ham in the second round of the Carabao Cup this coming week.
AFC Wimbledon are also in the same league as Charlton now, despite the two rivals being eight tiers apart when the Dons broke away in 2002.
4. West Ham United
Point Per Derby: 1.218
West Ham have been involved in some famous London derbies down the years, most of them against Tottenham. From the incredible 4-3 win in 1997, to the 2-1 victory that denied Spurs Champions League football in 2006, to the heartbreaking 4-3 loss in 2007...these two rivals love a cracker.
Arguably the best goal ever seen in a Premier League London derby was scored by West Ham's Paolo Di Canio, with his stunning volley in a 2-1 win over Wimbledon in March 2000 - the last time the two sides ever met in the top flight.
The Hammers may be fourth in the list for now, but defeat to Arsenal this weekend will see them slip below Wimbledon.
3. Tottenham Hotspur
Point Per Derby: 1.386
Over the last few years, Tottenham have ruled the roost in London. In each of the last three seasons Spurs have taken more points from derby matches than any of their rivals, winning six and drawing two of their ten derbies last season.
However, London derbies have often been a painful experience for Spurs. Their 1-1 draw with Arsenal in 2004 gifted the title to their hated rivals, and Tottenham's own title challenge died when they drew 2-2 with Chelsea in 2016, handing the league crown to Leicester instead.
No current Premier League striker has scored more goals in London derbies than Tottenham's Harry Kane, who took his tally to 24 last season.
2. Chelsea
Point Per Derby: 1.803
Since Arsenal last won the title in 2004, Chelsea are the only team from the capital to win the Premier League, doing so on five occasions as they have become the dominant force in London.
The Blues endured a difficult time in London derbies last season, winning just 3 out of 10 and losing away at West Ham, Crystal Palace and Watford. They also lost at home to Tottenham - the first time they had done so in 28 years.
However, this season has gotten off to a better start with a 3-2 win over Arsenal last weekend. Despite playing the same number of Premier League derbies as Tottenham, Chelsea have won over 100 points more than Spurs from such games.
1. Arsenal
Point Per Derby: 1.827
After 248 London derbies each, Chelsea and Arsenal are separated by just six points. It was down to three points before last season, but Chelsea's slip-ups allowed the Gunners to extend their lead.
The aforementioned 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane which sealed the league title in the invincibles campaign is surely Arsenal's sweetest derby memory, and their 5-4 win in the same fixture the following season remains the highest-scoring London derby of the Premier League era.
Chelsea may have overtaken Arsenal's tally of Premier League titles, but when it comes to derbies, the Gunners still rule the roost over the capital...for now.
