Lyon have rebuffed a €10 million offer from Everton for attacker Rachid Ghezzal.
Out of contract at the end of the season, the attacker has been sent to Lyon’s reserve team ahead of the weekend’s Ligue 1 opener against Nancy on Sunday, although president Jean-Michel Aulas said he believes the 24-year-old wants to stay in France.
Goal understands that the resolve of the Stade OL outfit has been tested by the Toffees, but they have rejected the offer for a player who contributed eight goals and eight assists last season.
Instead, Lyon want €15m for the player, who has nevertheless opened talks with Ghezzal.
There has already been interest from West Ham this summer, but no offer has been made by the Olympic Stadium outfit.
Meanwhile, Arsenal hold an interest in the player but will only move for him next January, when they will know if the Lyon-born talent is available on a Bosman deal. Several Spanish clubs are also ready to pounce in this scenario.
Ghezzal, meanwhile, wants Lyon to make their move, even if they have not yet offered him a contract re-evaluation of the magnitude that he would like.
