40-year-old Ayodeji Albert who allegedly forged the identity of an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was on Monday arraigned in a Lagos court.

The man, , who resides at Redeemed Camp in Mowe, Ogun State, is standing trial on a two-count charge of impersonation and forgery.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 25.

Imhonwa said that the accused had obtained a forged identity as an EFCC official at a printing press at Obalende, Lagos.

As stated by him, Albert, on August 25, harassed some members of the public after presenting himself as an official of the EFCC attached to the department of finance.

“Albert presented his forged identity card, bearing the forged details.

“He claimed to be an EFCC operative and a staff of the anti-graft body,” Imhonwa stated.

Although Albert denied the charges, the prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 78 and 368 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till November 23 for mention.
